Strategic Error

Yesterday the Boss Man told the Middle Man to schedule a meeting — a quick “15-minute meeting, among the three of us. I had the foresight to ask the Middle Man how long the meeting would actually take and to please schedule the meeting for that length. He opined that the meeting would probably be done in under an hour. What I failed to do, however, was to ask approximately how late the meeting would be in starting.

We’re at 50 minutes and counting.

Hooray! Crap!

Every now and then I close my email client for an extended period –sometimes accidentally, sometimes on purpose. It’s usually great because I actually start to get work done rather than add to the list of things I have to do after I finish reading the freshest email deliveries. Then, sadly, and with a great sigh, I realize that the email accounts haven’t been checked in hours. Back to non-productivity.

Did the government invent email? If they did, it would explain a lot.

Food lesson learned

Earlier this week I went to a fancy company-funded dinner. I learned two things:

1 – I don’t like lobster nearly as much as I thought I did
2 – I know why lobster is usually served swimming in melted butter.
