Yesterday’s lesson in “don’t sweat the small stuff”:
After a couple of softball games last night I took a more-direct but arguably slower route home. As soon as I chose my exit, I began to regret my decision. Then I hit a couple traffic lights, encountered some jackass drivers (pretty typical in NoVa (Charlottesville, too)), and swore at the construction. Arguably I got home a few minutes later than I could have otherwise. I was miffed for about 10 minutes until I actually got home, got some ice packs on my legs, and grabbed a beer.
About 90 minutes I received an email from a teammate. Said teammate had just gotten home. Apparently, the “quick” way home was closed due to construction. Everyone else on the team was delayed by an hour or more.
That time savings pretty much made up for the time I lost due to UVA graduation traffic (that extended to more than 60 miles north of campus, BTW) on Sunday night.
