What problem are we trying to solve
Filed under: General — nobrainer @ 9:24 am

Congress today begins crafting legislation that Democratic leaders plan to push through both chambers by their August recess. The measure may require all Americans to get medical insurance…

The problem, or “moral imperative if you prefer”, allegedly, is that there are too many people without medical insurance… So part of the solution is to mandate that everyone buy insurance? Shit, why don’t we just make being sick illegal?

What our dear, brave leaders generally neglect to mention is that millions of the uninsured simply do not want and do not need medical insurance. But they need to be forced to buy insurance essentially to feed money to insurance companies in order to reduce rates for everyone else. In other words, as is the pattern, this is another tax on the fit for the benefit of the unfit.

This doesn’t bode well for small businesses.
