Yesterday I watched the 2001 film, Double Whammy, which stars Denis Leary, Elizabeth Hurley, and Steve Buscemi. There’s no doubt in my mind (but apparently there is in the minds of others who have rated this a 5.7 at IMDB) that this is a bad movie. The debate is whether this movie redeemably or irredeemably so.
The opening scene of the movie is so lacking in quality and reality that I was convinced it had to be a silly dream sequence. Sadly it was not and the movie continued apace for the next 90 minutes.
The good is that the movie has some laughs.
The bad is that the movie has the plot and script quality of softcore porn.
Bottom line: don’t waste your time with this movie.

Wait, Elizabeth Hurley doesn’t make the good list?
She is good, but not in the context of this movie.
I only remember her from two other roles, Austin Powers and Bedazzled. In both those films her assets are used for the betterment of the movie. In Double Whammy, I think she’s supposed to be taken a bit more seriously, but it doesn’t work (probably because nothing in the film works).
I’d say that Bedazzled is at least twice as good as Double Whammy.
