It must be a slow weekend. Otherwise there is little reason to explain the recent NYT article, “Gas Prices Rise on Refineries’ Record Failures.” The headline is so vague as to be entirely misleading. But the article contains a gem that I can barely believe made is past the editors.
Some critics of the industry have theorized on Internet blogs that the squeeze on gasoline and other refined products points to a deliberate effort among oil companies to bolster profits by keeping supplies tight.
As best I can figure, that translates to, “hey, why trust a bunch of crazy wahoos on the internet when you can trust a bunch of crazy wahoos who put their critical theories on paper!”
