Where can I buy a pack?

And are the results guaranteed?

Residents in Sanford are concerned about their pets’ safety after about 60 cats were found dead in recent months.

It was believed that wild dogs were to blame for the deaths, but Local 6 News reported that domesticated dogs may be responsible for the killings.

Seriously, the only thing I hate more than neighborhood-roaming cats are their owners.

Here are two friendly tips: “owning” a “pet” involves housing it, and “housing” does not include letting it roam around at its own volition.

Set America Free
Filed under: Venezuela, Stupidity, Energy, Economics, Business — nobrainer @ 11:47 am

I just spend a few minutes watching a video produced by Set America Free about reducing our dependence on foreign oil in order to secure America. And I was left with one question: how can so many people with so much intelligence be so fucking stupid?

Oil independence and energy independence may have their values. They do not, however, have the value defined in the little video, which purports that we’ll basically solve all global security issues by becoming oil independent. Because the OPEC nations of the world will have to liberalize and democratize if they can’t rely on black gold.

Here’s a hint, if we don’t buy a single drop of foreign oil, we do not solve in any way the problem of the Iran’s and Venezuela’s of the world making a lot of cash to spend on evil things. They still have an abundance of cheap oil that they can sell at huge profit margins. Someone, somewhere is going to buy it. Period.

The only benefit to Americans is that we can feel so great for not being the ones who buy the cheap oil. I say whoop-dee-doo. But since we’re a culture who joyfully spends a dollar for a pint of water, why not start spending a dollar for a pint of gasoline so we can feel good about ourselves.

We’re not screwing you. We’re just stupid.

Last April I swore that I was quitting Sprint. At that time, my contract hadn’t expired and I wasn’t about to pay one unnecessary dime to those bastards. Long stories short, by the time my contract expired in August switching wasn’t a priority.

Today I logged in to view old statements to get a sense of what kind of tax deduction I can claim due that whole federal tax issue. It looks like it amounts to about 1 dollar a month for almost 6 years. (I had to look things up online because after years of stockpiling old statements, I finally got a paper shredder about 3 weeks ago and made the best batch of confetti ever.)

As I was looking through account information, it listed my agreement termination date as 6/7/2007. That’s funny because my last agreement was for two years, beginning August 2004.

So I called to ensure if I switch over to someone else I won’t find myself charged for breaking an agreement.

My first call was disconnected after 66 seconds.

My second call went through. At that point I was assured my agreement was over.

Sprint’s website is wrong.

Again.

George Bush wants you to starve!
Filed under: Politics, General — nobrainer @ 8:09 pm

He announced in last night’s state of the union, the “Twenty in Ten” plan.

Basically he wants to reduce gasoline usage by 20% in 10 years, primarily through the use of renewable fuels, which will probably be ethanol (handouts to the corn industry). And because it is in the interest of “energy security,” tariffs will probably be slapped on imported ethanol (another handout to Big Ag).

It all sounds vaguely similar to John Kerry’s proposed Big Ag handout “John Kerry want you to starve!” program called 20 by 2020.

The gist is that to produce that much ethanol from corn, as is typical, requires about 80% more corn than the US currently grows.

(I have since learned from that first post that corn for ethanol isn’t completely used up. Basically just the starch is removed in the process and the rest moves on as some kind of corn-food product which is edible.)

PS - There’s some movie I don’t want to watch about who killed the electric car or some shit. I’m pretty sure it blames GM — with its something like a 1 billion dollar loss — for not digging deeper into their pocket. Anyway, the true killer of the electric car are the Green Ralph Naders of world who demand legislated safety. Without extreme regulation people could be driving around town in golf carts. They’re a fraction of the price of a real car. They’re a fraction of the weight of a real car. I presume they’re much better in energy/passenger mile than a real car. And they’re fucking electric.

We don’t need to spend shitloads of money on new technology. We need to be allowed to use the technology we already have. Dumbasses.
