Before Halloween the local Kroger had Christmas decorations up.

On my trip this weekend I was able to listen to all-Christmas radio stations. I noticed Greenville’s Bi-Lo Center was already decorated.

9 days ago I was at a Halloween costume party.

This morning I ordered Christmas presents for 2/3 of my family.

Today is November 13th. Typically I don’t start thinking about Christmas until a week or two after my birthday. By birthday is still more than a week away. Christmas is almost 5 weeks after that. And I think there’s some other holidy wedged in between.

What the hell happened to November?

On the upside, the majority of my shopping is now done. Although that doesn’t account for the shopping I’ll have to do once I get home. Undoubtedly at least one of my family members will consult me on what to get the others. And by “consult” I mean give me a credit card and tell me to not come back until I have loads of presents.

So what does Dad need this year? Depends on what I want. Ha ha ha Ho ho ho!

Another painful upgrade

I apologize for the downtime last night. Everytime I upgrade WordPress something goes wrong. I don’t know who to blame but I’m pretty sure it has nothing to do with any young, college educated, white men.

That means everyone else is a suspect.

I’m freaking out, man!

As a quasi-scientist, I have to occasionally consider that perhaps everything I know is wrong. News like this helps.

“Here we’ve got bubbles of nothing that really are something.

“Typically when you learn at school electrons carry current and here, it’s the absence of electrons.”

Thoughts on the election results

  • Denny HastertIt looks like Nancy Pelosi will be the next Speaker of the House. I’m a big fan. I think she has all the charm, and good intentions of soon-to-be-Ex-Speaker Denny Hastert.

    Well. Almost.

  • My advice all the newly elected. Winning the election makes you the best campaigner. It does not make you the best anything else. Remember that.
  • The Democrats won by staying the course. After a dozen years of setbacks, roadblocks, and quagmires, they didn’t give up. The continued to fight the good fight. They knew that if they just waited around long enough, the other side would eventually screw up big enough to let them win.
  • On the upside, the new majority can win my trust by getting rid of all the goddamned commercials sponsored by the AdCouncil!

Anti-smoking smoking ads don’t seem to do any good.

Messages reminding kids to stay in school are probably best not shown during lunch on CNBC. I suspect the daytime CNBC audience hasn’t thought about dropping out of high school since well before they got their MBAs.

And the fucking V-Chip commercials. Years ago during the Clinton administration — and I rememember this — Bill spent some of his valuable time explaining to the people how he did them such a huge favor by signing into law the V-Chip. This is the parental control chip in your television set. You probably already know that and have NEVER bothered to use it for anything. Or you have no clue about it, and similarly haven’t used it. So now the government has to run commercials to tell you about how to use the product that you didn’t want that they made you buy.

Are you listening, Nancy? I swear I’ll take back the Denny Hastert joke if you get this shit taken off the air.

Whodathunkit. The Federlines are heading for divorce court.

And they seemed so perfect.

That’s what she gets for starting and stopping in the basement.
