Adelphia, Comcast, or whoever the heck is my cable/internet provider now. I’m just not sure because Comcast is close to or may have just finished officially purchasing Adelphia. There are myriad problems. For example a friend was unable to change her account through the telephone because her area code didn’t match her geographic service area. It seems Comcast has never heard of cell phones.
Anyway, me and God knows how many people, have a different problem. At some point early Thursday [November the 16th] morning they managed to selectively knock out access to certain domains, and in some cases, certain parts of certain domains.
I can get to cvillenews.com but not cvilleblogs.com.
I can get to tigerdirect.com but not tigernet.com.
I can get to www.itc.virginia.edu but not www.mail.virginia.edu.
Maybe they’ll get it fixed before it becomes a solid week on Thursday.
Personally I think 2007 is a better estimated repair time.
UPDATE(s):
11/25/2006 - The problem remains unresolved.
11/26/2006 - The problem remains unresolved. A not-so-quick call to Adelphia customer services and I was informed that the problem has absolutely nothing to do with Adelphia/Comcast. Something somewhere in the internet is “broken.”
11/26/2006 - I’m a jackass/dumbass/piece-o-shit hater. I mistakenly believed that since others were having similar problems that my problem did not exist on my end. And I was wrong and for once I owe an apology to a cable company. It appears that my router crapped out on me.
11/29/2006 - Scrath the stuff about me being a dumbass; I’ve changed my mind. My SMC router has been replaced with a brand new Linksys model but many of the same problems remain. It seems that Adelphia/Comcast has created a network that is not combatible with modern home networking equipment.

What you said. I am just glad to hear that I am not the only one having problems accessing typically accessible sites.
