Remember when I said that blogger sucks?

Well the people who work there are now making my point for me.

After sending about a half-dozen emails to support@blogger.com, I got a real response. Of course it just said they were focusing on other problems and that I should check the Blogger Help Group forum.

Obviously they didn’t read my emails or else they would have told me that going to those forums will not help my problem since it exists entirely as a bug in their system. However, I visited the forum and found someone else with the same problem and broke the bad news to him.

Eventually a Blogger employee jumped in:

We’re working hard on fixing this, but can’t estimate when it will be resolved.

Working hard. Right. Sure.

But because I’m a CUSTOMER SERVICE GENIUS, I suggested that they at least update the help files to help people avoid the bug instead of driving them to it.

And the response is just great:

I like your suggestion, Nobrainer. It’s always a good idea to advise others when something isn’t working quite as it should. Not sure if we’ll be able to change the Help article, but I’ll see what can be done. [emphasis mine]

They don’t even know if they can change the Help files. THEY CAN’T CHANGE THEIR OWN HELP FILES! It appears they lost their own help files on how to change the help files. Maybe they can write new help files on how to change help files so that they can change the help files. But they probably can’t write new help files on how to change help files until someone writes a help file on how to write help files… infinite loop… must abort… must abort…

Remember that Blogger is a Google owned company. God help us all!

While I’m bashing software companies…

PeopleSoft is apparently farming its work out 6th graders. I just applied for a job using the worst designed web application EVER!.

On the first page I’m asked for name, address, and contact information. Name: easy enough. Contact information: easy enough. Address: click ‘add address’ to be taken to a new page so that I can easily enter my address info so that it can be saved and I can be taken back to the page I was on before so that I can click next to move on to the next actual page.

And it gets worse.

They don’t believe in drop down lists. Instead I have to click on a little magnifying glass which takes me to another page where I can pick the most correct option so that I can be taken back to the original page. Even using the tab key to navigate is fucked up because once I tab to the magnifying glass it will either correct my entry (it interpreted my BS as a “Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry”). It really shouldn’t take 3 minutes and 6 page loads to enter:

  • University of Virginia
  • MS
  • Mechanical Engineering

And as a general complaint, if you’re going to let me upload résumés and cover letters, let me upload goddamn files. Nobody types these damn things out in notepad, so why do you expect people to upload so much text without any formatting? Just take the files.

At this point, I figure I’m a shoe-in for the job just because of application attrition.

ok nobrainer, you have a point, customer service
is ZERO with Blogger, but I use it for my blog
simply because it is simple, easy to use, at
least for someone who studied history in college!
