A lot of words have been typed about University of Miami football in recent years. Head coach Larry Coker is often a hot-seat candidate despite having not lost more than 3 games in a season over the last 5 years. He did manage to buck his downward trend last year, having lost only 3 games when the linear trend anticipated 4. He stopped the bleeding perhaps, but his program lacks the luster of a championship contender.
Around this same time last year, I wondered about the state of Miami program. At that point, a report had just emerged about a scuffle between the offensive and devensive units.
It seems there is more of the same this year.
Andrew Bain saw his fellow offensive lineman involved in a skirmish and decided to jump into the fray, inviting himself into his second fight of the day, following a beatdown he allegedly gave freshman defensive tackle Chaz Washington…“By us being hard on them in practice and beating them up, it’s making them tougher and work harder in practice,” said defensive tackle Kareem Brown. “I’ll be the first one to tell you that [the offensive line] is getting better. But I’ll tell you that, not them.”
Or maybe the team is just miscreant rich.
It’s a crying shame that I am going to have to root for them to beat Florida State in their series opener.

[...] A month ago I suggested the Coker just can’t control his troops. The team took the opportunity to prove me right before the start of the Louisville game. Miami started the day by stomping on the Louisville Cardinals logo in the middle of field. That might be that last sign of swagger the Hurricanes show for a while. [...]
