Shaving Day 22
Filed under: General, Shaving — nobrainer @ 11:34 am

Continuing with my wet-shaving experimentation, this is day 3 with the double-edge safety razor. Maybe the third time is the charm, but today really wasn’t all that bad. Instead of the Nivea for Men Sensitive Shaving Gel, I

employed the Shave Secret shaving oil. Today’s shave was still not what I’m looking for, but it seems pretty much on par with what was the status quo. Even the burn factor was much less than the last two days.

Maybe it’s the increasing familiarity with the razor, the fact that the blades are now a bit “broken in” or that the shave oil is really that much better than the Nivea.

Perhaps in the next couple days I shall be so daring as to go against the grain with the DESR.

The experimentation, shall continue.

Back when I used to use an electric razor, I recall that they had disclaimers saying that you should use it for at least 30 days to allow your face to get used to the shave. Maybe there is a similar timeframe with straight razors?

Jim,
Who uses Fusion Power, and whatever shaving gel my wife has purchased for me.

The DESR does take some getting used to, practice makes perfect. But once you get the hang of it I think it’s a lot better than the Gillette style razors. The knob at the bottom which you turn to remove/replace the blade can also be used to affect the shave. For example when the blade starts to feel a bit worn I will loosen it a twist or two.

Good luck.

I’m gonna say a quick woops! I read this post and commented before I went back and read the others.
