Like a cat playing with a mouse…

Sometimes the beauty of internet discussions is that one person never knows when to quit. They subsequently dig themselves deeper and deeper, continually opening up holes in their argument through which you feel it is your duty to attack.

Such was the case in a string of comments that started playing out last night.

I found myself in a discussion about gasoline taxes. I jumped in when someone mentioned the current tax being unfair because it doesn’t penalize those who use their gas inefficiently. Since those people in SUVs and whatnot don’t get great mileage, they are paying more per mile under the current system. And that seems perfectly reasonable to me. They are penalized for using too much gas and emitting too many fumes.

Anyway the whole thread is a little humorous an somewhat educational. It may be worth a laugh.

Wow if it wasn’t from my head hurting from the blathering on that post I may have fallen asleep. You should have just posted: Biodiesel, start a revolution. See what that would have got you in terms of an uprising! I think you would have spurred a whole new argument and drove NR.com crazy. At least it would have been fun.

speaking of biodiesel:

Iowans eager to invest big bucks in biodiesel

Iowa farmers, small-business owners and retirees anted up more than $7 million in two days to build a biodiesel plant here, eager to make a bet on what’s billed as the future of the state’s rural economy…

Investments in biodiesel and ethanol plants have often been limited to farmers or high rollers. But urban and rural investors alike have started lining up to own a piece of the booming renewable energy industry in Iowa, thanks to $1-a-gallon government subsidy and the soaring price of oil and diesel fuel.

A dollar a fucking gallon? Geezus!

It’s probably a good private business idea as long as their business model was thought through properly. Do we really need to subsidizes them that much. This has to be some pork barrel project from a local Senator.
