From an email I received this evening:
Students Educating and Empowering through Diversity(S.E.E.D. )
Would you like to see more diversity in classrooms, in organizations, on Grounds in general. Are you a student leader? Have you been involved with organizations such as B.E.A.T.S., Asian Student Union, Alianza, Queer Student Union, National Organization for Women, Sustained Dialogue, or B.U.C.K.S.? Have you taking the Multi-cultural Education class or have ever been interested in learning more about the idea “DIVERSITY?”
If so, this organization, sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Students, may be perfect for you. Click on the following link to find out more information www.virginia.edu/deanofstudents/seed. If you know students who may be interested, please pass the information along.
Diversity? In classrooms? Does that mean I can request a 50/50 male/female ratio in my classes, with at least 1/3 of my professors being conservative Republicans? Its doubtful, and I don’t see how setting false mandates would help anyone.
On Grounds in general? I would like to see more professors without any training. Plus I would like to see more janitors who have a net wealth of more than $10,000,000. Now that would be diverse.
In organizations? Is SEED insinuating that “organizations such as B.E.A.T.S., Asian Student Union, Alianza, Queer Student Union, National Organization for Women, Sustained Dialogue, or B.U.C.K.S.?” should themselves become diverse? Let me get this straight, SEED is recruiting from nearly specifically non-diverse groups to increasing diversity? Although I guess if they actually got to working together, than us white-”cock-man-oppressors” will finally get our just desserts.

I really think you missed a golden opportunity to use the word “comeuppance.” I only say this because, and I hate to point this out, it’s actually “one’s just deserts.” And I only say that because it was an issue on snopes. http://www.snopes.com/language/notthink/deserts.htm
In reference to your post, I would like to see more homogeneity. You should start a homogeneity club and pawn yourself off as an integral cog in the diversity movement. I mean, I’ll bet they don’t have a lot of homogeneity proponents in their ranks–and that’s just not very diverse. It’s flawless logic, but if they don’t “get it” they might let you pass just because of the name your chose for the club.
