According to the New York Post [rr] he not only wanted to sell blow but poison it in order to more quickly kill cokeheads.
Osama bin Laden tried to buy a massive amount of cocaine, spike it with poison and sell it in the United States, hoping to kill thousands of Americans one year after the 9/11 attacks, The Post has learned.
…Sources said the feds were told that bin Laden personally met with leaders of a Colombian drug cartel to in 2002 to negotiate the purchase of tons of cocaine, saying that he was willing to spend tens of millions of dollars to finance the deal.
…Bin Laden hoped that large numbers of Americans dying from poisoned coke would lead to widespread terror.
“They wanted to kill thousands or [sic] people — more than the World Trade Center,” said a source.
I think the whole story is BS, but that doesn’t make it any less interesting. Let’s examine the possibilities…
First, how sad is it that Columbian drug leaders can meet personally with bin Laden? I would assume that with our “war on drugs” we’d be keeping track of these people. Therefore, how is it they can find him and we still can’t. It’s sad, really.
As for killing thousands of people, I don’t see that happening. Plus, would you or I feel “terrorized” if cokeheads began to suddenly drop dead?
I haven’t studied it, but is there a good poison that will not harm or kill for many days after ingestion? My working assumption is that there isn’t.
So to kill thousands, the poisoned coke will have to get into the supply chains and be consumed in a short amount of time. I may be wrong if more people than I imagine buy from random people. And I assume they have to be random. I imagine that in the normal supply chain, at least a few people personally test/use the product.
Otherwise, if distrubution is spread out over time, it won’t take very long for experts to associate several dead people with poison & cocaine. I estimate a couple hundred dead tops.
But this could be good for Bin Laden even without the terror or deaths. Why? Basic economics. With the supply of coke in question, users will seek alternatives such as heroin — a drug closely linked to OBL. I think it’s this demand shif that he would really be after if he pursued the plan.
Such an event might finally lead people to rethink the drug policy in the country. Instead of making criminals rich with a questionable product, make the government a bit more rich while providing a quality controlled product. Obviously prohibition of drugs has not worked. In the end, this would lead to even more monetary woes for the Binster.
Although maybe the DEA should copy the idea. Instead of seizing illegal drugs, they should be poisoned and spread on. Make the crap really dangerous. Just consider the resulting deaths to be a thinning of the heard.
So, if this is a real story, I’m sure we’re missing most of it.

It’s all fun and games until you find out how many doctors are actually on coke. Apparently it’s the drug of choice for work-aholics. You can consentrate better and have more energy. Of course, I’ve aderal is the new choice, though.
