I believe I have clearly communicated that February 14th, AKA St. Valentine’s Day, effectively means nothing to me. (Although I have subtracted 9 months from the date I was due to be born, which was November 10th…think about that)
But I digress. A couple days removed from the event, I am reconsidering my official position.
It seems to me, that the savvy should be taking advantage of this event.
Given the structure of the “holiday”, it promotes an acute romance vacuum. Sure, those who are in relationships have to go out of their due to social norms. Consider, for a moment, how many people approach 2/14 with overblown expectations. Throughout the country there are innumerable women who would tolerate a temporary lapse in personal standards for the sake of being able to celebrate the “holiday” properly. Fortunately, I am only getting better with age. It’s amazing what advanced education and the promise of “stability” can offer. Yes, the “holiday” creates a romance void. I vow to be available to fill that gap.
Why am I not taking advantage of this anomaly? It happens every year.
It is time for Nobrainer to capitalize on this knowledge. In 2006 I plan to recognize 2/14 for what it is at least 2 weeks in advance. In 2006 I will be prepared.
Valentines Day may not be worthless after all!
