If this event were to happen within the next four years, this is my loose and unofficial prediction of what will happen.
There would be three main groups involved in this process. There would be “Pro-America and capitalism”, Anti-America (wait, doesn’t that sum it up right there?…. no), and the “we’re too chicken shit to fight”.
I won’t speculate on what might set off this firestorm.
Let me look at some world powers, and guess which side they’ll be on.
America - obviously pro-American
England - despite some grumblings, definitely pro-American
Australia - Give them some extra Fosters and they’re always on our side.
Japan - Since the end of WWII, they’ve known which side of a conflict to be on.
South Korea - I think they still like us.
Iraq - Well this depends on the state of things between now and the potential WWIII, but I think/hope they’re smart enough to realize where they should be.
Afghanistan - We gave them democracy and a booming (illegal) drug industry.
Pakistan - I think they like us
India - We give them more jobs than we give our homeless.
China - I grant they are communists, but they understand money, see ‘India’.
Who’s against us:
France - Despite being a military joke for the last 80 years or so, they have decent technology and a hatred for America. Moreover, pro-American troops will refuse to fight with any group that is also in favor of the Frence.
Russia - Putin is doing his best to do a gigantic U-turn in Russia. Their only industry is circumventing UN policy.
North Korea - Their dictator stands about 5′ tall. Can you say Napolean complex?
Iran - We hate everything about their government. They defintely aren’t going to fight with us.
Germany - I’m not entirely sure of this one, but I think if they get pissed enough, they’ll take a side unlike Spain (see below). Then again, they may decide they want to win a war at some point, but I’m still not counting them as being on our side.
Who’s neutral (notables)
Canada - They’ll start out as pro-America, but after tens of millions of American hippies head north, they’ll quickly give up the fight. In thanks for taking in Anit-war Americans, the US will not fight them.
Spain - They’ve just lost the will to fight.
Well that pretty much sums it up. I think that our side is in good shape, unless China or India decide to go the other direction. Who knows…. Besides, what do I look like a fucking engineer?
