Who’s paying for this?
Filed under: General — Nobrainer @ 8:01 pm

And this from today’s Political Grapevine from Brit Hume:

Last Flights Out

With some disappointed Americans threatening to leave the country rather than live four more years under President Bush, one organization is offering to give them a way out.

HelpThemLeave.com offers free one-way transportation for disgruntled citizens, in return for “irrevocable renunciation of your U.S. citizenship and a sworn statement that you will never return.”

The group will even match destinations to political preferences — leftists are offered a choice of France or Germany; socialists can choose between Canada and Denmark, and communists can pick Cuba or North Korea.

I thought this was quite funny. But seriously, who is paying for this? Is it rich Republicans trying to send off the competition? If so, I wish them well.

Once again… SNL sucks
Filed under: General — Nobrainer @ 1:30 am

I’m watching only because I slept most of the day and am unable to sleep right now.

Particularly heinous is the new Weekend Update.

And you know who agrees with me? That’s right, Frank Stallone!

So bring back Norm, Dennis, or even Colin.

To SNL, Fah Q!

Music News
Filed under: General — Nobrainer @ 10:35 pm

Can any of y’all provide a first hand review of Cake’s new album? I really haven’t heard anything about it since they announced it’s release date.

For some reason I’m just not expecting much out of this one.

In other music news, I have noticed that we are nearly though another November without a promised new Guns ‘n’ Roses CD. Is anyone else not surprised? In fact, the offical G’n'R website doesn’t have any news of any kind. It does however still boast an image from their failed world tour in 2002.

Has anyone ever noticed that there is a nearly constant link on Fox News to the latest news about Michael Jackson’s fucked up world? How does that guy still have a fan base? Of course, I guess he’s still popular in Europe. ::insert your own neo-political Europe joke here::

And sadly, the world has lost Ol’ Dirty Bastard. As usual, I’m too lazy to look things up about this guy’s biography. How many kids does he have? How many different mothers are there? And isn’t he the guy who let MTV tape him while he went to claim his foodstamps and welfare check? So yeah, I’m saddened.

A must read!
Filed under: General — Nobrainer @ 3:47 pm

This day has gotten better! I encourage my friends and foes to read my preceding post and accompanying comments. To save you some of the trouble of having to scroll down and click on a link, you can read the comments here:

Wow, I’m amazed at the ignorance that people like yourselves are capable of.
To make comments like this on a subject you obviously know NOTHING about is ridiculous. Regardless of whether or not the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment group used some fuzzy logic to make a point that you so wholly missed, blindly agreeing with the opinion article of a FoxNews writer does not make you informed, it makes you an idiot who can’t learn or think for himself. Read a book on ecology, and then shove Hannity’s book up your own ass.

I awoke from an outstanding afternoon nap to find out that someone, assumedly an environmentalist, actually read my blog and didn’t like it one bit. I would first like to thank my commentator for increasing the level of readership of my ramblings. (You gotta kiss your customers’ ass, right?)

Actually I need to apologize for the apparent overuse of the word “ass”. Wha’s commentaries have apparently given me some sort of temporary fixation.

Firstly, someone seems to have missed the point of this blog. It is primarily meant to entertain my friends with overexaggerated quips. If I were truly a crusader, I would compose drafts of my work, word them carefully, then have someone pay me for the privilege of publishing them.

But in analyzing the comments that were made, I’m interested by what I can extract. Apparently, using fuzzy logic to prove a scientific point is valid. The writer is also not entirely politically correct. They clearly believe I’m of the masculine gender. I have to believe that they assumed this. The author didn’t seem to notice any of the links about my higher education. They also assume I’m a Hannity fan. I won’t deny this. However I do not watch the Fox News Channel, and I do not listen to talk radio. Further, to the best of my knowledge (sorry, too lazy to double check), I have never commented on anything from O’Reilly, Hewitt, Hannity, or Limbaugh. Of course I’m just speculating for fun. I’m not speculating for the advancement of some science.

They correctly assumed my ignorance of the issues. It is not a total ignorance. But I do purposefully ignore many reports because I can tell from a mile away that their findings are based on bad initial assumptions.

I find it interesting that I am an “idiot who can’t learn or think for himself.” I’m sure I would not have been branded with that had I said I loved whatever the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment group had written.

Most of us will agree that global temperatures do change, both for the warmer and the cooler throughout time. It seems quite arrogant to believe that this current warming trend is all man’s doing. A correlation does not imply a cause. To jump to potentially baseless conclusions (”it’s a JUMP to CONCLUSIONS mat” - From Office Space) is junk science (read about it here).

But now I must wonder who this anonymous person may actually be? Is it a random passerby? Perhaps it’s one of my myriad people I have pissed off in my life. If it’s the latter, I encourage you to reveal yourself. Of course now I’m being arrogant because I believe that people that I frustrated years ago are still angry enough to track me down on the internet.

Have a good weekend everybody… and by everybody I mean all of my brain dead, college educated friends who can’t think for themselves and always agree with me.

Environmentalists on thin ice
Filed under: General — Nobrainer @ 7:17 am

It appears that another “important new” report about polar bears is the same old BS. Founded on fuzzy logic and questionable science, the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment group has announced that polar bears will soon be extinct.

As a counter point, is one of my new favorite writers, Steven Milloy. Milloy runs the site junkscience.com. He does these weekly opinion pieces for foxnews.

So treat yourself to reading Polar Bear Scare on Thin Ice. And the next time you meet an environmentalist, encourage them to go find their favorite tree, hug it, then shove it up their own ass. (Wha, I included that last clause just because I knew you’d like it.)

I’m out

My analytical damnamics prof finally handed out our midterm. I expected it next week, but it arrived a week early.

Sorry, no Duke game, nor drinking for me this weekend.
